Passing of a legend....

One of the greatest chess players of last century, David Bronstein, passed away last week. Bronstein must have been one of the greatest chess players who never became a world champion.

Bronstein was a hair's breadth away from becoming the world champion. There are numerous rumors that he was subjected to pressure from the Kremlin to loose the world championship match against Botvinik. He produced numerous beautiful games and his contribution to opening theories especially King's Indian defense is second to none.

Here is a great tribute to the genius of Bronstein from Yaseer. http://www.chessbase.com/news/2006/bronstein01.wmv

Rest in peace Mr. Bronstein. Thanks for the great moves.
