M-Tel round II: Anand thrashes Topalov

Breaking news! Anand defeated Topalov with the black pieces in 36 moves! It was a great display by Anand. It is very difficult, at lease with my patzer abilities, to tell where Topalov went wrong. However, the attack that Anand unleashed around move 25 was spectacular.

In other games, Kamsky beat Bacrot in an endgame scramble. Bacrot needs to study his endgames again. He completely messed it up in time trouble. Kamsky is 1.5/2.0. He is definitely doing much better than expected. He faces Anand tomorrow. These two have shared a great rivalry and Anand always seems to bring out the best in Kamsky. It will be an interesting game tomorrow.

Also, Svidler crushed Pono. He is also 1.5/2.0.

Anand nows leads the field with a clean 2.0. If he continues like this, he will definitely be the clear winner.

Standings after round 2:

1 2.0 GM Anand (India 2803)
2-3 1.5 GM Kamsky (USA 2671), GM Svidler (Russia 2743)
4-5 0.5 GM Ponomariov (Ukraine 2738), GM Topalov (Bulgaria 2804)
6 0.0 GM Bacrot (France 2708)
